Philos Health

Over the past 7 years a group of volunteer doctors, nurses and health care professionals have traveled to Bohol in the Philippines to provide and develop health care services for this low income community.  In addition to providing medical and surgical services, we have worked in partnership with the local government to build sustainable services to meet community needs.  Programs developed respond to local priorties and focus on those least able to have access to health care.  The End Hunger in Jagna Campaign targets children under 6 with moderate to severe malnutrition with hot nutritious meals.  3600 kids receive meals each day.  5000 people receive free prescriptions each month and two local nurses on our staff manage patients with diabetes and hypertension to insure that they get medicine, education and improve complaince.  We are evaluating the outcomes of these and other efforts to insure that we are making an impact that changes lives.  We have no staff, all donations go to direct care and services.
