$5,000 Goal

To provide New Orleans middle and high school students with access to quality in-school, after-school, and summer programming that is safe and fosters an environment that ensures their needs are consistently met.

Our mission is driven by the desire to "Reclaim the Youth of this City" by providing quality after-school programming that prioritizes the needs of the children we serve. Embedded in our programming is mental health counseling, along with academic and career preparation. Many of the children we serve have so many layers of "untouched" trauma, and we aim to teach our kids how to practice healthy ways to work through their trauma. We aim to SEE these students in all their beauty, helping them to be overcomers, which leads them to see their full potential to be great.

At NO COST to the student or parent, Phoenix Communities of NOLA will host its 2nd Teen Summer Camp on June 3rd, servicing 150 students ages 13-15. Additionally, our in-school & after-school support program for the fall will start on September 3, 202, 4servicing over 50 students ages 13-19. The summer camp and the during-school programming will allow students and families to meet with mental health counselors.

Testimonials

"The mental health sessions at camp taught me that it's okay to talk about my feelings. Now, I use breathing exercises when I feel stressed, and I don't feel so alone anymore." - Jaylen

"I learned how to cook real dishes like gumbo and plate food like a chef. Now, I help my grandma in the kitchen, and she's amazed by what I can do!" - Alana

"I never knew how much skill went into Mardi Gras Indian suits until I did beadwork at camp. It made me appreciate the culture even more, and now I see the suits as true works of art." - Malik
