Pipe Line Awareness Network for the Northeast

The Pipe Line Awareness for the Northeast, Inc. (PLAN for the Northeast, or PLAN) is a broad-based coalition working to prevent the overbuild of natural gas infrastructure in the Northeast.  

We said from the beginning that Kinder Morgan's Northeast Energy Direct pipeline project is not inevitable. From the cancellation of the NED pipeline to the unravelling of Access Northeast's financing plan, we have successfully combined the power of many people, working on multiple fronts, to protect our treasured places and our climate.

We are still in the trenches at the public utilities commissions. Here, we can continue to challenge – and unravel – the financial underpinnings that make these projects possible.  Holding our local utilities accountable is key to keeping Kinder Morgan and Spectra Energy in check.

Meanwhile, we have been helping the people in Sandisfield fight the Connecticut Expansion project, which is currently slated to run through Otis State Forest.  We are now focusing more attention on the Spectra projects proposed for the region, even while we keep an eye on Kinder Morgan.

We envision a public that understands where its energy comes from and that is actively engaged in energy decisions that affect our communities and our region.
