Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project

A nonprofit organization

Founded in 1996, PUMP is a membership organization with a mission to make Pittsburgh the most dynamic and diverse place by inspiring young and young-thinking people to affect change in our community through civic engagement, professional and community development, and social networking. Our vision is that Pittsburgh will be the first choice for young and young-thinking people who desire unparalleled opportunities to live, work, and play.

PUMP encourages a new generation of leaders to become involved in the civic and political process. We organize candidate forums, disseminate public policy information, engage young people in the civic process, advocate for young people on important public policy issues, and collaborate with community leaders to make a meaningful impact. We believe that the civic decision-making process in our community is greatly enhanced through the involvement of Pittsburgh's young people. Whether it is hosting the 2013 Mayoral Forum for Young Professionals or advocating for our constituents' views on the tuition tax, public transportation, the smoking ban or other issues, PUMP serves as the voice for young people in Pittsburgh.
