Placer Repertory Theater (PlacerRep.org) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit professional performing arts and culture nonprofit organization. 

Audiences may recall Placer Repertory Theater as the professional company that 

  1. offers the VAPA Academy (visual and performing arts) and SCHOOL TOURS extended learning opportunities to Placer County schools.
  2. wrote and produced the mainstage world premiere of Ghosts of Placer County in 2022, which featured local history from 11 population areas in Placer County.
  3. commissioned and produced “New Beginnings,” featuring a new play about Placer County railroad history in July 2021, 
  4. won Gold Country Media’s “The Best of the Best: Best Live Theatrical Group.” 
  5. won four Broadway World (BWW) awards in 2021, and 27 BWW nominations in 2022 & 2023, 
  6. was awarded the Gloria Burt Sacramento Region Arts Fellowship in Literature, through the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.   

We are currently operating our regular programming, including our Education Outreach Programs (Placer Rep VAPA Academy, School Tours, Visiting Artists/Artists-in-Residence, while we RAISE FUNDS for a 2024/2025 MAIN THEATRICAL SEASON.  

As a professional theater company, we work with union and nonunion professionals, and all our performers, creatives and technicians have professional credits and are paid for rehearsals and performances.

Placer Rep has four program areas:

  1. Talent Development - programs that help artists bridge the gap from academic, community and pre-professional experience and training to professional employment. "ColLABoration LAB," topical workshops and classes, "New Works Collaborative," "New Works Festival."
  2. Professional Growth - programs for early career to seasoned professionals to hone and exercise their craft. Productions, events, topical workshops and classes, mentorship, internship and employment programs. 
  3. PRAA - Placer Rep Access For All - funds and programs that allow for outreach and service to those in Placer County who are economically or geographically challenged. Four programs: Performance Fund, Scholarship Fund, Free Admittance policy, Dramatists Guild: Playwrights Welcome.
  4. Community & Economic Enrichment- There are four areas of C.E.E. programming: 

Education Outreach -- Community Outreach & Inclusivity -- Community Partnership -- Economic Enrichment.  

Our Education Outreach includes engagement with K-12 education, as well as colleges, senior programs, nonprofit organizations, civic and government entities, and the general public, to provide educational support and programming. 

Outreach and Inclusivity programs provide engagement with new voices and seek to represent all facets of Placer County to include voices and groups that may be marginalized or underrepresented to ensure participation in all our programs and throughout our organization.  

Placer Rep partners with education, nonprofit, government and civic organizations, and always operates all programs with an eye to local economic development and a "local first" policy with regards to procurement of both human and physical resources and services.
