$6,000 Goal

We want children to find a spark that develops into a lifelong love of learning.

Help us start the spark.

At PlayDate: A Children's Museum, we believe kids learn best through play. Our mission is to provide the children of Culpeper and the surrounding counties with a place to learn through interactive, hands-on play. Our museum includes pretend play centers to foster imagination and creative thinking as well as STEAM toys to promote critical thinking and problem solving.

In 2025, 10,000 people visited our museum!

Our Programs:

Science Saturday: A free STEM event with hands-on and interactive activities for kids centered around a new theme each month!

Sensory Friendly Hours: We reduce the stimulation of the museum by dimming lights, turning off music, and limited crowds. This ensures all kids with a differing sensory needs  have the opportunity to enjoy PlayDate.

Why Play?

Play offers cognitive, social, and emotional benefits for kids.

Cognitive Development:

Play encourages exploration, creativity, and problem-solving, leading to stronger cognitive skills.

Social:

Through pretend play and social interactions, children develop their language skills and communication abilities.

Emotional Growth:

Play provides opportunities for children to learn how to manage emotions, navigate social interactions, and develop empathy.

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning.  But for children, play is serious learning."
