The Plymouth Public Library was established in 1938 by the Plymouth Women's Civic Club, now known as the General Federation of Women's Clubs, Plymouth. Plymouth Public Library has been a member of the Luzerne County Library System since the System was established in 1984. Our official service area is comprised of Plymouth and Larksville Boroughs, but we serve anyone with a card from a library in the Luzerne County Library System.

The Plymouth Public Library is established and maintained to serve the informational, educational, and recreational needs of its community. The library carries out this mission by providing free access to an organized and currently useful collection, reliable internet service, digital databases, and a staff trained to recognize the needs of the community.

The library offers a well-rounded collection of materials and regular programming for preschool and school age children. In addition, we assist patrons with technological devices, copying, faxing, scanning, and printing. We direct patrons to resources they need in order to better their quality of life. The library has helped patrons apply for housing, jobs, and numerous other benefits. The library provides free tax forms yearly. We provide a list of food pantries, thanks to our community partners at Commission on Economic Opportunity.

Over the last year or so, we've seen an influx of teens and older Gen Z individuals begin to use the library more frequently. Whether it's taking advantage of our free wi-fi and electronic databases to complete schoolwork or browsing our selection of graphic novels and manga, Plymouth Public Library takes pride in being a safe place for young people.

In March of 2025, the library's roof and HVAC system were replaced thanks to an LSA (Local Share Account) grant obtained by Plymouth Borough. The town always makes us feel included in town-wide events, allowing us to meet current and potential patrons where they are and let them know about all the library has to offer!

By giving just $10, you could help us to improve the quality of life for many citizens of Wyoming Valley's West Side!
