Friends of The@Pend Doreille Bay Trail Inc

Just a short walk from downtown Sandpoint, the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail will one day connect Sandpoint, Ponderay and Kootenai with an unbroken shoreline trail alongside shimmering Lake Pend Oreille.

Young and old have enjoyed this easy shoreline trail for years with, and without, the permission of the landowners. Now, for the first time in decades, much of this shoreline is open to the public, thanks to a purchase agreement between the property owners and the cities.

The Friends of the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail recently raised $400,000 to help purchase part of that shoreline for the public. But there's more work to do.

In addition to bringing this natural trail into public hands, the Friends are commited to helping maintain this trail, provide amenities - such as benches and trash cans - and to ultimately connect it into Ponderay and Kootenai with a railroad underpass.
