Police and Working K-9 Foundation

Our greatest need right now is to replenish our Retired K9 Care Fund.  This fund assists Retired K9s with $1000 toward Emergency Care when they need it the most. When a police dog is retired he becomes a family member with the handler that was his partner while he was on duty. We have been able to help dozens of K9s during their time of need.  To honor the service that they have given to our communities, we provide this essential service for our loyal Retired K9s.

The Police & Working K-9 Foundation, is an all volunteer non-profit organization working to keep California law enforcement K-9 teams ‘covered’ with safety equipment and emergency medical care.

“Cover Your K-9” provides custom-fit K-9 bullet-proof vests, heat alarms for patrol cars & has worked with veterinary specialists to design a K-9 Emergency Medical Course & custom K-9 Trauma Kit; this program is serving as a model for K-9 care across the country.  We also maintain a special fund to help retired K9s with Emergency Medical Care.

With help from communities and Pet Food Express we have:

-Provided custom bulletproof and stab resistant
K9 vests to keep over 200 K-9s safe in Northern California
-Hosted a an intensive K-9 Emergency Medicine
course twice a year and distributed over 600 custom K-9 Trauma Kits to the K9 officers to help care for their dogs in case of an emergency.
-Provided more than 50 special heat sensors to keep
K-9s safe and cool in their patrol cars.
-Assisted dozens of retired K-9s with $1000 toward Emergency Veterinary Care in their time of need.

There are many more K-9 teams in need of
safety equipment on duty and care in their retirement.
