For over 160 years, Porter-Leath has been the primary resource for Memphis' at-risk children and families. By focusing on the essential building blocks of healthy development, we not only give them access to the tools they need, but also a sense of hope. As a result, Porter-Leath is helping build stronger children, stronger families and a stronger Memphis.

 

PL operates programs in six focus areas. Head Start prepares over 450 children each year for academic success. Spoonfuls feeds 900 children each weekday a hot, healthy USDA breakfast, lunch and dinner. Connections provides a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk children. Cornerstone combats the crisis-level infant mortality rate, with over 94% of service recipients having healthy birth weights. Generations provides opportunities for seniors to reinvest in the lives of new generations through mentorship. CareerPlace empowers parents to achieve financial independence through meaningful work experience. The agency served 8,225 children and 4,667 families last fiscal year.
