Power Packs Project is a nonprofit organization in 18 school districts in Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties dedicated to ending hunger in our local schools over the weekend, when free school breakfasts and lunches aren’t available.
Every week, our participants receive a Power Pack - a fresh recipe, all the ingredients to make that meal, pantry staples like cereal or peanut butter, and local fresh items like milk and produce.
Our Mission Statement: We empower families with education and ingredients to create nutritious weekend meals, so their children return to school fed and ready to learn.
Our Impact:
Power Packs provided more than 660,000 meals in the previous school year and summer programs. We’re on track to beat that number this year. That's almost 800,000 POUNDS of food!
Over 6,000 volunteer hours went into helping us meet our mission. From working in the office on admin projects, to packing and delivering boxes, we can’t do it without our amazing volunteers!
During previous school year + summer programs, we have served over 58,000 children right in our backyard!
Hear from some of the families that we have empowered:
A Mom in the Pequea Valley School District:
"That’s when Power Packs stepped into my life—and it was truly a lifesaver.
Each week, receiving that Power Pack wasn’t just about the food—though that was so important. It was about hope. It was about stability. It meant I had a healthy meal for the weekend, a recipe to follow (which helped a lot, because cooking is not exactly my strength!), pantry staples, fresh milk, and produce. But more than anything, it felt like someone was saying, “You’re not alone. We’ve got you.”
A Mom in the School District of Lancaster:
“Power Packs means to me and my girls a life link. It provides us with food. But it’s more than food, it’s knowing that someone cares for you and understands what you and your family are going through. We cook the meal together and we sit down and talk."
A Mom in the Manheim Township School District:
"Power Packs means my family gets quality, warm meals we can cook together! In times like these, I am so grateful to have Power Packs Project for the nutrition and the intentional time with my family."
