Prairie Bloom Cycling Club

Prairie Bloom Cycling Club (PBCC), is a women's cycling club established in 2020 to help support new adult riders coming into the sport. Since its inception, PBCC has hosted numerous beginner and intermediate group rides, learning opportunities, and community events. Through our rides, classes, and community events, we have seen many of our riders grow their skills and confidence in cycling!

HOW WE ACHIEVE THIS

By providing learning opportunities (bicycle repair and maintenance, bike safety and etiquette, learning to MTB, nutrition, etc). 

WHY WE DO THIS

We have multiple successful youth programs available on a local and national level. Our hope is to help adult women that might not of had these opportunities in their youth (due to lack of access, social or economic barriers, etc). It's no secret that cycling can be an intimidating space, but we hope to help these individuals safely navigate this space by providing access to knowledge and an opportunity to grow their skills. We believe that if we have more confident women on bikes, it will create more role models within our community who can in turn support riders of all ages and abilities. 

WHERE YOU COME IN

We are a volunteer-run organization! 

In the past four years we've raised funds by having a membership model, or t-shirt pre-orders. However, in an effort to make our group more accessible we eliminated the membership model to remove additional barriers for individuals. 

Fundraising at any level will allow us to keep doing the necessary work to make cycling more inclusive and vibrant in Omaha and the surrounding area!

SOME OF OUR GOALS:

1. Fund four clinics, and pay instructors (gravel clinic, bike maintenance and repair, bike handling, learn to MTB)
2. Purchase a canopy for our tent (to be used for clinics, expos, and a gathering space at races)
3. Purchase tool kit that the club can have access to and take to events (Park Tool travel & event kit, or similar)
4. Purchase spare helmets/ride gear for individuals that need them!

Building a small gear library has become an area we would like to improve to help riders who lack access to certain items (helmets, bike tools, etc).
