Help Prevent Child Sexual Abuse
$2,120 Raised
Mission:
Strengthening the bond between mothers and daughters to combat child molestation, incestuous abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault.
Aziza Kibibi established PLL in 2015 in response to her need for support services after overcoming her own experiences of trauma and abuse during childhood and young adulthood. Our Mission is to provide survivors with the knowledge and support they need through media, education and advocacy, to heal and succeed as well as prevent incidents of abuse from occurring to anyone.
PLL has designed 4 programs to strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters, in turn strengthening our society. Our Survivor Support Group (SSG) provides a safe environment for over-comers to share their experience and gain support by giving support. We realize that healing is a continual process and addressing issues head on allows us to discover our strength and find solutions. Our support group meets monthly and we are actively expanding the program to create an online platform to engage more of our clients.
Our program, “Girl, We’ve Got You Covered”® (GWGYC) is a previsionary program that donates health and beauty products to women and children escaping abuse. We realize that when a woman who is escaping danger, the last thing she may be thinking about is a hair brush and lotion. In addition, often times shelters do not a provide these necessities. These items can be critical to a women’s recovery as she strives to rebuild her confidence and regain a sense of normalcy.
PLL currently collaborates with three organizations in NJ : Access Family Services in Essex County, the Essex County Family Justice Center and The Center for Hope and Safety in Passaic County. By providing care packages containing, but not limited to, toiletries, makeup and feminine products to women and children in need, we assist families on the road to recovery.
This program has also extended to Vieques, Puerto Rico after our founder went to the island to contribute to the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria.
In the near future, we will include mother daughter team volunteers to put the packages together. This aligns with our mission by encouraging the bond between mothers and daughters through activities that help other women and girls.
Our Raising Awareness Kite Flight® (2019) campaign is an event where we invite people in the community to come out and fly kites which have printed on them PLL hashtags that raise awareness on our mission, the issues we are working on, and the empowerment of the community. This serves not only as a platform to continue the conversation on child molestation, incest, domestic violence, sexual assault and their prevention, but it also serves as an opportunity for mothers and daughters to strengthen their bond during the event by flying kites together.
And finally, our Family Empowerment Fair (2018) where we invite families to an event to participate in workshops designed to raise awareness on sexual assault and abuse, domestic violence, self defense, social media etiquette and confidence building. Attendees will also learn of the resources available to them to supplement the knowledge they gain. Upon completion of three workshops, each family will receive a gift bag to help continue bonding between mothers and daughters.
Our founder and published author, Aziza Kibibi, continues to raise awareness through her speaking engagements, newspaper and magazine publications, guest blogging and writing, and radio and television appearances.
We look forward to more opportunities of partnership and collaborations to further expand our programs. With help from our supporters and volunteers we can reduce the prevalence of child molestation, incest, domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as assist our clients on the road to recovery by guiding them towards rebuilding confidence.
