Testimonials

"Thanks for another great year of protecting and enhancing the watersheds of the Prescott Basin!"
-Individual Donor note, November 2016

'The Prescott National Forest (PNF) shares the same objectives as stated by the Prescott Creeks working group: • Hiring local youth conservation crews to restore and monitor priority sites; • Coordinating stakeholders to streamline management and avoid duplications of efforts; and • Actively engaging & educating the public about the benefits and values of riparian habitat. The PNF and Prescott Creeks coordination regarding treatment efforts on Aspen Creek in the Forest should have a meaningful impact both to the forest and all areas downstream. Their work aid in the end goal of restoring a healthy, functioning, native riparian plant community in the Upper Granite Creek Watershed.'
-Teresa A. Chase, Prescott National Forest Supervisor, January 2017

'I am writing to voice the support of the City of Prescott for Prescott Creeks Preservation Association. Their work has significant near term and long term benefit to the City of Prescott and its citizens. Properly functioning riparian native plant communities stabilize the human communities that surround them. These ecosystem services are realized across the many stream channels that course through the heart of our city and include: floodwater dispersal, erosion prevention, water quality improvement, aesthetic, educational and recreational benefit. Employing youth conservationists to carry out this work makes an indelible connection to our healthy riparian systems. Informing our public makes them advocates for our waters moving forward. Prior to my tenure in this position I spent fifteen years managing riparian nature preserves in southern Arizona. During that time I partnered with and encountered very few groups that were able to leverage their limited capacity to such broad and effective conservation impact as Prescott Creeks has. They have earned the esteem of this community through smart and efficient action.'
-Matt Killeen, City of Prescott Environmental Coordinator, January 2017.

'La Tierra Community School is excited to work with Prescott Creeks on the Rambling River Stream-Table project that will revitalize an under-utilized teaching tool, bring creative environmental outreach and education to many students and citizens, and leverage additional grant funding to markedly extend the reach of this work in the future... The Prescott Creeks Rambling River stream-table represents an excellent resource to engage our students in issue-based watershed scenarios that reflect local, real-world conditions.'
-Lenka Studnicka, PhD, La Tierra Community School Director; Prescott College Faculty & Mentor, March 2017
