Since 1982, Prevent Child Abuse Utah has been the only nonprofit in our state solely dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. As the Utah chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, we believe in working upstream. This means we focus on strengthening families before harm occurs, rather than waiting to react after a crisis has already happened. While our mission protects children at every level of society, our primary fundraising focus for this year’s UtahGives is our Home Visiting program. This program is the ultimate expression of our principle that every family can be strengthened by protective factors.

Our Focus for UtahGives 2026: Home Visiting 

In 2025 alone, our home visiting team served more than 800 families through these free, evidence-based services. Utah data shows that nearly 90 percent of children who receive in-home services do not experience repeat maltreatment. Prevention is incredibly effective when we lead with partnership and show up for families early.

However, as we expand to meet the rising needs in both urban and rural neighborhoods, we are seeing more families face significant stressors and complex challenges. Your support on UtahGives helps us meet families exactly where they are. Your donations provide the concrete supports, literacy tools, and essential resources families need to navigate these challenges and stay strong.

• Support for New Parents: Provides specialized mentoring from a registered nurse for expectant and new mothers.

• Family Mentoring: Helps parents learn how to provide happy and healthy homes for their children.
