Since opening in Odessa, Texas in July of 2020, the mission of Pride Center West Texas has been to improve the lives of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) minorities through the provision of safe gathering spaces, educational offerings, and social services that prioritize those who identify as LGBTQN+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, nonbinary, and the rest of our family members +). Odessa-Midland’s existence as the heart of the Permian Basin area has made it an effective place from which to strategically provide culturally competent services that are unavailable to LGBTQN+ youth, adults, and allies for at least 160 miles in any direction. Our therapist is the only therapist 100% dedicated to the LGBTQN+ community in Odessa.

Our services include the staffing of an LGBTQN+ Youth Center (from which weekly youth programming is provided, e.g., our youth peer support group and youth events), provision of completely free therapy for adults over the age of 18, access to PrEP navigation services, linkage to LGBTQN+ supportive services/businesses, the offering of LGBTQN+ cultural competency training(s), and administrative support for parent support groups (PFLAG and Parents of Gender Diverse Children) and LGBTQN+ social groups, most notably the Basin Pride Committee (the events committee responsible for putting on the annual Basin Pride Festival and creating regular events that offer our rural, queer community members and allies safe spaces in which to gather).
