PRISMS serves as a central clearinghouse for information about Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS), providing a range of educational and support services to families, researchers, physicians, and more!

SMS is a rare developmental disorder caused by missing or changed genetic information in a specific region of chromosome number 17. Individuals with SMS exhibit a wide range of symptoms, including medical issues, intellectual disabilities, behavioral outbursts, self-injury and mood swings. But with all of these symptoms. SMS children and adults are also loving, creative, fun, and always memorable. 

PRISMS has created a community of support for families and individuals affected by SMS. The organization works to provide resources, support research, and foster partnerships with professionals in an effort to raise awareness and understanding for SMS.
