Feeding the Need Every Day of the Year

Support our work for the community - A $20 donation provides 30 meals to a neighbor in need!

San Diego Hunger Coalition reports that 22% of San Diegans struggle with food insecurity and that of those people, 28% of children in San Diego County, or almost 200,000 children, do not know where their next meal is coming from. ProduceGood works to provide weekly bounty of nutritious, just-picked fruit and fresh veggies to children, families, seniors and veterans every day of the year. Here is how we Feed The Need in San Diego.

How we are feeding the need right now:

  • San Diego Gleans Day of Service - On Friday, 9/1, ProduceGood will be hosting a day of service with several of our feeding partners! We will be gleaning thousands of pounds of excess fruit, which will all be donated to our participating feeding partners to take back to their own pantries. Sponsor a gleaner with your donation!

  • Market Share Food Recovery - Each and every Sunday, our volunteers collect donations from farmers at the La Jolla, Leucadia and Hillcrest Farmers Markets. Farmers donate crops they were unable to sell that would otherwise be thrown out, used as animal feed, or composted.

  • CropSwap Gleaning - Almost every single day of the week, ProduceGood volunteers assist in picking and donating excess fruit at private residences all across San Diego County, donating everything they pick to one of our partner feeding agencies who distribute it all to community members in need

  • Community Food Drops - ProduceGood volunteers will be packing and distributing boxes of produce rescued through our Grocery Gleaning program to various agencies throughout the county to bring fresh and nutritious produce to their doorsteps.
