Project 1:1 stands for: Each one reach one, each one love one.

Project 1:1 started 14 years ago with one bowl of soup and one man. We are a ministry that reaches the hurting and the hungry one meal at a time, nourishing stomachs and feeding souls. We serve all, whether they are eating out of a dumpster or wearing a business suit. Hunger knows no boundaries. We believe in equity justice for all. Treating everyone with dignity and respect while meeting their dietary needs is one of our highest priorities.

Church services and spiritual counseling take place outside on Tuesday evenings, in areas where our homeless congregate. We work closely with the County of San Diego and an onsite social worker and eligibility counselor provide resource referrals.

Services to individuals and families in need include:

  • Serve 200+ hot meals every month, in addition to providing meals to go in collaboration with the Lucky Duck Foundation.
  • Supplying diapers, wipes, and feminine hygiene products.
  • Pet care, including food, flea medication, coats, collars and leashes.
  • Project S.A.V.E. (Senior Assistance Vehicle Emergency), assisting homeless seniors in covering the cost of minor repairs, vehicle registration, and insurance. We also provide each senior with an emergency tote and battery charger.
  • Providing winter wear, sleeping bags, and tents during colder months.

We are developing the Magnolia Project, which will be the first people’s choice pantry of its kind in San Diego’s South Bay. The pantry will offer a friendly farmhouse environment and the chance to shop for nutritious foods of their choosing at no cost. We will host healthy cooking classes in an onsite kitchen. By offering healthy foods and hands-on cooking instruction, we can work towards pivoting our community to healthy outcomes for issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. These concerns are very prevalent in the low-income, food insecure, poverty level areas we serve. Magnolia Project will open within the next two months. We are excited to continue serving the community from National City to San Ysidro and to now have a building to provide the care, resources and mentorship to people need.
