Our goal is to give Miskito girls and women the skills needed to create a sustainable future for their family and their community. Completely isolated by jungle, La Moskitia is only accessible by boat, or small airplane. Due to this isolation, the region experiences a severe lack of resources and information, and has some of the highest poverty rates in Central America. Statistics show that when an educated girl earns income, she reinvests 90% of it back into her family. At Project 541 we believe in the power of a girl. We believe that a generation of educated and empowered girls, given the right tools, can change the social and economic landscape of La Moskitia.
