Project HIRED is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, community-based organization that was established in 1978 to create and expand competitive and integrated job and career opportunities for individuals with disabilities by partnering with private industry. With a mission “to assist individuals with disabilities to gain and to sustain employment” Project HIRED serves a wide range of type and severity of disability, including individuals with physical and mental impairments, chronic illnesses, and learning disabilities, with at least 50% of the participants having significant disabilities. An emphasis is placed on targeting minority groups and those unemployed or underemployed. Participants possess an array of skills and seek employment in a variety of industries.

Since our founding, we have successfully assisted thousands of individuals with disabilities to secure jobs appropriate to their qualifications and career goals. Project HIRED offers an array of job placement, training, and employment services designed to promote self sufficiency and independence, remove barriers, create opportunities, and help job seekers with disabilities build successful careers.

  • Hands-on computer training – Computer Fundamentals workshop, LinkedIn skills workshops, Skillsoft basic and technical skills training,
  • Online skills assessments
  • Networking, recruiting, guest speaker events
  • Wounded Warrior Workforce – individualized support for disabled veterans
  • AbilityOne Program – offers Call Center Operator positions at VA Medical Centers throughout Northern California.
  • Employment transition and retention support
