Located in the heart of downtown San Bernardino, Project Life Impact’s mission is to impact our community one person at a time. We pride ourselves in empowering people with the resources and capabilities that will allow them to achieve a life-time of success. This impact is achieved through our 5 program components: Back-2-Basics, Impact Sports, After School Impact, Academic Impact, and Kidzone.
Each of these components offer services which address major needs within our community such as hunger relief, tutoring & mentoring, human services, and health & wellness. On a monthly basis we provide hunger relief to approx. 600 individuals, after school programs to approx. 400 students, tutoring to approx. 100 at-risk students, clothing to approx. 300 individuals, and sports programs to approx. 50 students.
Back-2-Basics provides barrier support for students and their families, veterans, and the homeless free of charge. Through structured case management, referrals, food and clothing distributions, and various other programs we help provide the basics which are needed to sustain healthy lifestyles.
In 2013, we introduced our PATH program. The PLI Assisting the Hungry and Homeless, or PATH, program was aimed towards providing a regular source of nutritional food to veterans and the homeless. When doors opened to the PATH program April 2013, 37 veterans and 133 members of the community received fresh food free of charge. Today, more than 100 veterans and over 300 members of the community receive fresh food on the Friday distribution days.
Impact Sports provides students a variety of fun and competitive sports programs which help develop them physically, psychologically, and educationally. These programs help students set goals, develop a sense of purpose, build self-esteem, focus their energies, and occupy their idle time in a productive way. Our current schedule includes the following for children and adults: Mondays and Wednesdays Beginning or Intermediate Tang Soo Do Karate Classes as well as Jazz and Ballet Dance Classes.
Our NCLB instructors, tutors, and mentors interact with students in our After School Impact programs. Immediately after school, students receive nutritional snacks, receive help with homework, and participate in recreation and enrichment activities, designed to empower them to believe in themselves.
Academic Impact programs are developed to improve proficiency levels in English language arts and Mathematics, improve student test scores, and assist in closing the achievement gap. High quality tutors achieve this through standards based intervention tutoring in one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions.
Designed for children ages 2-15, KidZone provides fun, family-oriented events and forums free of charge. These events are attended by city organizations and agencies who donate their time to provide information and giveaways to families.
