Prospect Hill Academy Charter School (PHA) was founded in 1996 with the mission to prepare each student for success in college, to inspire a lifelong love of learning, and to foster responsible citizenship. The K-12 school is located on three campuses in Somerville and Cambridge and serves nearly 1,200 students from diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds: 57% are black (the majority of Haitian origin), 17% are Latino, 13% are white, 7% are Asian, and 6% are of mixed race.  64% of the students come from low-income families.

Prospect Hill Academy doubles our students’ prospects of attending college. 95% of PHA graduates matriculate to four year colleges, the majority being the first in their families to do so. This compares to an average 47% matriculation rate in the top five districts where our students reside. After earning three consecutive silver medal designations, in 2013 PHA received gold medal status by U.S. News & World Report, placing it among the top 2% of all high schools nationwide.  In 2012 and 2013 PHA was also designated a Level 1 school by the MA Department of Education, placing it in the top 25% of school districts in the state.
