Providing Ultimate Life-sustaining Strategies through Education (P.U.L.S.E.) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), community based organization founded in February 2007. We offer a blend of services which include: HIV/AIDS education, referrals, counseling, community education/outreach, free condoms and volunteer training.

A few programs implemented by PULSE include:

 

Saving Lives Of Women (S.L.O.W.)

Saving Lives Of Women, S.L.O.W., is a HIV/AIDS Risk Reduction presentation available to all females 18 years and older. S.L.O.W. addresses those who are currently sexually active or planning to be by encouraging them to use the ABCs of sexual health:

A=Abstinence! Refrain from all sexual activities until you are in a monogamous relationship, preferably marriage.

B=Be Faithful! Remain monogamous to decrease the chances of contracting HIV/AIDS and other STDs, and to maintain a higher level of self worth.

C=Condoms! Using condoms in every sexual encounter will reduce the risk of contracting STDs.

Teen PULSE

Teen PULSE is an initiative sponsored by PULSE targeting teens, ages 13-18. The purpose of this initiative is to help teens establish productive lifestyles and reduce risk-taking behaviors by exploring the consequences of poor decision-making. Teen PULSE consists of a series of education modules and activities that will promote good decision-making regarding life choices and self sufficiency. Teen PULSE is a free service that is offered to all youth groups, schools, and churches.

Modules vary in length, but can be altered to fit into a desired time frame. Modules include:

Self Identity/Values/Making Choices Media Messages and Self Esteem;

Relationships, Dating Violence and Bullying;

Sex, HIV/STDs, Peer Pressure and;

Why Abstinence is the best choice.

After completing Teen PULSE, youth participants should be able to:

Develop a strategic plan for the future;

Identify resources to help problem solve and achieve goals;

Network with peers to share their experiences (efforts, successes and failures) toward meeting their personal goals;

Network with others to compile resources and continue to address critical issues affecting today's youth.
