PSIA-AASI West Education Foundation

Founded in 1961, the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) are recognized nationally and internationally as the leaders in snowsports education. We provide exceptional training, education and certification opportunities all while developing camaraderie with colleagues, the fun of learning, and the reward of teaching and sharing your passion for snowsports with others.

Our organization is committed to developing innovative and effective skiing and riding techniques and teaching strategies, as well as promoting professionalism and the profession of snowsports instruction. Our programs are fun, fulfilling, and led by some of the finest clinicians in the country. We offer a variety of educational events that range from teaching methodology, skiing/riding mechanics, personal improvement to women specific events, racing, and children’s programs.PSIA-AASI is a member of the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA) that unites skiing, snowboarding, telemark and nordic. The ISIA promotes collaboration in skiing/riding technique, methodology, and safety ensuring the highest standards of professional practice.

The Western Division office is located in Truckee, CA., and serves the California and Nevada regions. We provide training, education, and certification. We offer three levels of certification in four different disciplines: alpine, adaptive, nordic, and snowboarding. Our accreditation programs cover: free style, children, and seniors.

We are committed to snowsports education during COVID-19, and we want to continue to make it a safe and fun, while creating lifelong adventures through education. We plan to work together to maintain a low risk learning environment, helping ensure a healthy snowsports season for everyone this season. We have created e-learning courses to help instructors prepare for the season remotely, and have build webinar and trainings as alternative avenues of education while physically distancing.  As an organization we have diligently been working to take the necessary precautions for healthy interaction as we continue to focus on growth and development.
