Pumphouse Players, Inc. is one of the oldest continuously-running community theatres in Georgia, active for over 45 years. Pumphouse is based in the intimate 70-seat historic Legion Theatre, a converted 1940s cinema, that puts the audience right into the action. With opportunities with adults and youth of all ages, Pumphouse prides itself on its blend of professionals and amateurs that create high-quality entertainment for Cartersville, Bartow County, and the surrounding area.

Though it's hard to count the exact number, Pumphouse serves around 3000 patrons and participants year after year with three main areas of programming. Aside from Bartow, participants come from Gordon, Floyd, Cobb, and Paulding counties, while our guests have come from as far away as Washington state, California, and even Calgary.

Our mainstage program (AKA our "regular season") often features 7 or 8 full-length plays and musicals submitted and selected by our audiences and members. It is FREE for any community member to audition and participate in these plays, and auditions are open to folks of all experience levels. It is rare for us to have a show without at least one beginner or PHP newcomer! We know how important it is for adults to have the opportunity to discover and unleash their creativity together, so we're committed to offering year-round opportunities.

Our Pumphouse Junior youth program focuses on youth in grades K-12 from public, private, and homeschool backgrounds. Together, our Jr. volunteer team and young performers and crew members put together quality performances while learning about stagecraft, emotional intelligence, and cooperation. Our multi-age program encourages leadership, mentorship, and teamwork and offers opportunities for family groups to participate together. We are currently expanding our program to meet the overwhelming need for more arts opportunities for young performers, and we hope to double or triple our available slots by 2022. With only $35, you can sponsor the arts education of one child or teen.

Our new play/local works program offers opportunities for playwrights to showcase and develop their work in our Local Playwright Reading Series and our short play festivals with our partner The In-House Writers. Georgia playwrights can submit their full-length plays for Zoom or staged readings to assist in developing new art. Playwrights from around the world can submit to our short play festivals (currently airing online) to have their work performed by our local performers. Through this program, we support the creation of new art and support the Georgia playwright community.

We've continued innovating and creating, even through the recent challenges. We promise to continue adapting and making the most of the situation so that we can emerge stronger and ready to come back together. You can help us keep creating #ArtForEveryStage, support our existing programs, and prepare us for a return to the stage with a contribution of any amount and share on social media.

If arts and arts education are important to you, can you help us today?
