Our equines support our clients, volunteers and staff physically, emotionally and spiritually. Their health and well-being are top priority as they shoulder the burdens of our human world. Care and nutrition, as well as a safe and comfortable living space are paramount. Appropriate rest time and recreational activities are equally important to keep the equines' minds, bodies, and spirits in shape for them to do their jobs. Additionally, because many of our clients with physical disabilities have spasticity in their hands or legs, the horses tend to get used to these vibrating or erratic movements and then ignore smooth movements from the more advanced riders. Therefore, professional trainers help to occasionally rest an equine from the therapy program and re-school them with more advanced riding techniques while reminding them of proper ground manners around humans. Queen of Hearts is committed to ensuring our equines have these vital necessities to keep them comfortable and happy.

What do you plan to do with the money raised?

   The money raised will fund our equines' feed and supplements, bedding, stall and arena maintenance, veterinary care, dental care, hoof care, chiropractic and massage therapies and additional schooling.

How will that enhance your impact and move your mission forward?

   At full capacity, each of our horses is able to participate in 3 classes a day, 6 days a week, for 40 weeks a year. That's 760 lessons a month for a total of 4,560 lessons a year. The only way they can fully participate in our program is through proper rest, comfort and veterinary care.
