Queer Scouts Seattle is Troop 3 of Queer Scouts, Inc. We organize inclusive, diverse monthly peer-led educational skillshares for LGBTQIA+ adults, which empower authentic self-expression and build thriving communities. We hold both online events and COVID-conscious in-person events. We also offer a drug-and-alcohol-free environment for making connections outside of queer bars.
What activities do you do?
We have a little something for everyone!
-
Skillshares: Scouts teach other scouts a new skill. Skillshares can be anything from outdoor activities, arts and crafts, cooking, life skills, and more. Some examples of past skillshares include animal tracking, car maintenance, winter bike safety, yarn spinning, night tidepooling, forest bathing, and estate planning.
-
Social events: Scouts attend other groups' events together or meet up informally. Past examples include going to a queer skate night at the roller rink, riding bikes with a local bike repair shop, and attending queer film festivals.
-
Camp: our biggest annual event! Twenty scouts spend 2-3 days camping together.
-
Book Club and Crafternoon: two of our recurring monthly social events. We read an LGBTQIA+ book every month and discuss it online; we vary genres as much as possible. Crafternoon is a queer stitch 'n' bitch that is either virtual or in-person depending on the season.
-
Volunqueering: Scouts are encouraged to organize volunteer opportunities to give back to our local communities. For example, helping with set up at a pride event, repairing children's bicycles, etc.

What do donations go toward?
- Annual taxes and fees for incorporating as a 501(c)3 organization, lawyer fees, and technology.
- Our camp site, camp snacks and safety materials, and sponsoring campers.
- Event space rentals and skillshare materials. We'd like to host more events, more skillshares, and offer more community support in 2024!
