Hi Readers!

I created RADAR Productions in 2003 as a place to house the underground queer literary programming I’d been engaged in for a solid decade. At RADAR, reading series, international performance tours and book parties all come together and spawn ever-more ambitious projects such as publishing imprints, poetry contests and writers’ retreats. Connecting queer and marginalized writers with each other and with a larger audience has long been my passion, and it is beyond rewarding to spend my days thinking up new ways to champion the writing and writers I believe in. I’ve always sought to learn about myself and the larger world through literature; as I came to know myself as queer I became increasingly distraught about the absence of queer, feminist, working-class and other marginalized experiences on the bookshelves. Not only does supporting outsider literature provide life-affirming and sustaining validation for the people whose stories it tells, it serves the larger culture by introducing new realities to readers hungry for writing that expresses a diversity of truths. I love serving writers and am so grateful that RADAR has given me a platform to do just that!

xoxo,
