The arts add so much to our quality of life.  Sadly it is often the last to be considered when it comes to donations and funding and often the first to be cut.  Our mission is to bring the arts to our community in an affordable and accessible way.   Participation is free-we have no membership charges or dues.  We continue to offer a yearly fine-arts scholarship to a graduating senior and are educating our young people through our HCP Youth Dramatics program.

Theater can address sensitive and controversial issues in a non-confrontational and entertaining way.  People will think about what they saw, heard and experienced long after they leave their seats.  Theater touches on every emotion, social and cultural issues, political issues, that might spark a heated debate in any other setting.

Consider “Fiddler on the Roof,” a musical that addresses culture and religion in conflict with family and a changing world; “The Laramie Project,” that examines a community’s reaction to the beating death of a young gay man; “To Kill a Mockingbird,” which explores racism and bigotry; and “The Miracle Worker,” the inspirational story about the life of Helen Keller.

Why is theater so important?

This is the place where talent is discovered and encouraged, and patrons, participants, sponsors come together and become an active part in nourishing the imagination, and watch the happy result of thriving creativity.

This is the place where stories continue to be brought to life, stories that should never be forgotten.
