Ragamala's mission is to Create and Connect Community through Indian Classical Music. Ragamala seeks to fulfill this mission through excellent programming by way of concerts, workshops, educational material, youth competitions, teacher-student recitals and publishing archival recordings. Through its varied activities, Ragamala fosters an appreciation of the traditional music of India.
Ragamala is a totally volunteer-driven organization, whose board members are drawn from the community. Our programming consists broadly of inspiring performances by Masters (Spring and Fall seasons), Tarana Annual Summer Music Festival and Raga Sadhana music competition for Youth (Summer), and Raga Parichaya, a monthly educational series throughout the year. Our programming is growing in content and variety each year, and offering greater value to our community of teachers, students and audiences.
During COVID, we quickly adapted and delivered quality digital programming thanks to close collaboration with production partners and artists (both in the U.S. and in India). We are returning to hybrid and in-person events this year. Your generous donation will help us scale up our activity and outreach, pay artists fairly, increase access to students and marginalized members of our community, and expand the overall impact of our work. Every cent goes towards making Ragamala successful in its mission.
THANK YOU for your support!
Ragamala is the recipient of a grant from the NEA in 2022. In the recent past, the organization has also received grants from 4Culture and Raynier Foundation.
