NATIONAL MISSION TO
CREATE SAFER SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES!
The Rainbow Quest! board game was developed by Dr. Brian Kaufman, a Ph.D. in psychology with over 40 years of experience teaching Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Group Dynamics, Diversity and Multiculturalism, and Child and Adolescent Development. His training and experience inspired the most fun way to break the ice and discover the heroes and milestones of the LGBTQ+ community that have, until now, been either hidden or erased from history. Recognizing the importance of belonging, and at a time when people are spending more time listening to distant influencers instead of supportive friends, Rainbow Quest! provides prompts that inspire meaningful dialogue that brings people closer to one another. With attention to creating a safe and welcoming space for anyone apprehensive about an activity focused on the 'queer experience,' this game is easy to learn, wholesome enough for the whole family, and rich with social/emotional learning. Did we mention that its raucous fun?
Through many years of observing the life cycles of Gay-Straight Alliances in schools and various other social support groups. The most common issues presented by attendees were incorporated into the design of a ready-to-use activity made especially for affirming the queer community but compelling fun for non-gay people as well.
After approximately 15 years, Rainbow Quest! is lauded as a fun, clever, and gentle way to foster inclusion and understanding. With schools, community centers, therapists, and gaymers across the country raving about Rainbow Quest, we've exceeded our wildest expectations. We developed, tested, and fine-tuned the Rainbow Quest! board game activity building feedback from other psychologists, historians, teachers, and activists into a unique social experience.
The resulting game is easy to learn and fun to play! It creates a safe space for all to share impactful discussions, develop a sense of authentic pride, and form closer relationships with other players.
Our mission is to make the world a better and safer place by ensuring that every school, library, and community centers will use Rainbow Quest! in their teaching and programming.
Launching our nonprofit right before The Big Pandemic meant that the opportunities for demonstrating Rainbow Quest! at conferences, pride events, and game conventions evaporated while we reliably paid our monthly operating expenses. Relying on social media rather than in person demonstrations meant that some of our projects had to be put on hold until we can raise more money to continue this important work.
