Mission

The mission of 4-H is to assist youth, and adults working with those youth, to gain additional knowledge, life skills, and attitudes that will further their development as self-directing, contributing, and productive members of society through participation in research-based, non-formal, hands-on educational experiences.

More About Us

4-H is the youth development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. 4-H is rich with learning experiences where young people partner with caring adults and volunteers in a fellowship unlike any other program available to youth today. Through 4-H, young people are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that emphasize 4-H's "learning by doing" philosophy of youth development.

In Rappahannock County, 4-H offers educationally-based programs to youth in our community who are between 5 - 18 years of age.  Rappahannock 4-H offers and participates in programs such as:

*4-H clubs - (free membership)

*Community Service Projects

*Educational Workshops and Clinics

* 4-H Overnight Summer Camp

* Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock County Farm Show

Rappahannock County 4-H receives no programming money from the state or the county. With a goal of keeping as many programs free of charge or affordable for most, donations and grants are necessary to ensure that youth of all economic backgrounds can participate in 4-H activities.  Without donations, scholarships would not be possible and fee-based programs would not be subsidized.
