ROCC will have two programs running simultaneously in an after school setting: after school programs, and classes.  The after school programs will offer a variety of programs, basically introductory classes, in shorter increments allowing the youth to explore what they would like to learn.    Classes will offer similar programs in a more extensive way.  Some of the classes we hope to offer include: photography, ceramics, painting, music, history, theater, dance, horticulture, woodwork, and cooking.  Reach Out will allow the youth to choose their own classes, and all classes will teach skills in logical steps while adapting to the individual and small groups learning abilities.  The youth will learn all aspects of a particular skill, the different programs offered will intermingle: for example if the youth is involved in cooking school they will also learn horticulture.  The programs offered at the center will give the youth skills to utilize throughout their lives.

Overall Goals:

  • To raise capital funds to fully rehab the 17,000 sq ft building to provide a localized community center for the youth of the South Lawndale area of Chicago.
  •   To develop, offer, and conduct a variety of programs/ classes that will teach skills in logical steps while adapting to the individual and small groups learning abilities.
