Reading In Motion

Dear Friends,

Here at Reading In Motion, we’re focused on how to make learning fun and effective for students. Reading In Motion is in the process of launching a groundbreaking new after school program for students anywhere in the country: RIM Aspire After School.  With your support of the A Community Thrives Fundraising Challenge, Reading In Motion will be able to offer this service to families in need at a time when academic performance is at a record low across the country, due to the pandemic. RIM Aspire After School uses our same proven arts-based curriculum and approach to early literacy development, but in a format designed for the after-school environment. 

Experts now agree that supplemental programming is paramount to the current generation’s ability to catch up and succeed academically after two years of major interruptions in learning.  The impact of the after school program has the potential to make the difference between a student’s ability to begin the school year equipped for success or to start off on a path of struggle. We are thrilled to offer this service to families in need at a time when academic performance is at a record low across the country, due to the pandemic. 

Among students from historically disinvested communities, the pandemic’s impact is compounded with socioeconomic factors beyond their control. Yet, in the face of the seemingly uphill battle, students in Reading In Motion classrooms are doing well (Click Here)

These outcomes prove that when the right tools, time, and instructional approach are used, most students have the ability to become excellent readers.
