Help Reading Partners South Carolina provide individualized literacy tutoring to over 500 students next school year!  

Reading Partners was formed as a response to a critical community problem:  children in underserved communities were - and are - falling behind in reading.  It is a humanitarian issue than unequally impacts children and families in poverty and from diverse backgrounds - but also impacts the socioeconomic health of the community in which they reside.

Reading Partners delivers a solution that works and empowers children to get back on track in reading.  Our award-winning curriculum is customized by grade level (K-5) and student need and delivered by hundreds of community-minded volunteers.  This combination has proven to result in remarkable outcomes, helping our students cross a foundational barrier to success in school and beyond.

During the 2022-2023 school year, 455 students from 13 Charleston County and Berkely County elementary schools were tutored two times per week by 478 trained volunteers.  87% of all students met or exceeded their primary end-of-year literacy growth goals.
