Ready for School

In late 2007, in a meeting hosted by the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area involving approximately 100 community stakeholders, early childhood education was recognized as the single-most important challenge facing our present and future development. At that time, less than half of our community’s children were ready for school when they entered kindergarten at age five. In response to the critical need to address this challenge, the Ready for School initiative was launched.

The mission of Ready for School is to prepare children for success by equipping parents through integrated support of the Holland/Zeeland/Hamilton communities.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT: Research tells us that by the time a child is three years old, at least 85% of their brain has been developed – the quality of relationships and learning environments for babies and toddlers is critically important. That is why this Giving Tuesday, Drs. David and Donna Lowry are matching all donations to Ready for School, up tp $2,000. They also believe in smart investments; knowing that investing in early childhood education has one of the highest rates of return, yielding up to $17 for every $1 invested. David, a neurosurgeon, and Donna, an obstetrician, ask you to support Ready for School this Giving Tuesday and they will come along side you to double the impact of your smart investment.
