Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington D C

Children living in Southeast DC face many challenges, including the District of Columbia's highest rates of poverty, teen pregnancy and violent deaths among teens.  But the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center -- founded in 2001 by the Recreation Wish List Committee in partnership with DC's Department of Parks and Recreation -- offers a safe haven and opportunities to excel and achieve.

Serving as "Friends of SETLC," the Recreation Wish List Committee raises funds to support the center's youth programs.  Each year, more than 400 boys and girls, ranging in age from 6 to 17, benefit from the center's summer and after-school programs that build confidence and character, foster a desire for learning, and inspire young people to succeed -- both on and off the tennis courts.
