Red Rock Center for Independence

Amy was referred to Red Rock Center for Independence by the local women’s shelter. Not only is she beaten by life, she is so severely beaten by her ex-husband that she now has a disability. Amy has traumatic brain injury. She is terrified and timid about moving her life forward.  After being traumatized for the past many years, Amy has no idea where to start. But, our staff does. As Amy’s skilled Independent Living Coordinator is able to assist Amy in setting achievable goals for her future. It’s hard to believe that today is only eight months since the initial referral! Today, Amy is a bright energetic college student with entrepreneurial aspirations. She serves as a dedicated volunteer to our “Don’t Laugh At Me Players” and supports many of the Center’s social activities. Amy attributes her rapid progress in reclaiming her life to Martha and the services the Center provides.  This beautiful consumer is just one example of the amazing people we serve and the amazing outcomes that happen because of the dedicated staff at the Center.

Amy isn’t the only person with disabilities whose life has been enhanced because Red Rock is here. In 2012, Red Rock staff served more than 400 consumers in nine counties! Because of their sincere desire to remain independent, these wonderful people with disabilities set more than 500 goals collectively. And, more remarkable, the staff members of Red Rock provided 3065 services at no cost to the consumers or their families! We are committed to making sure that people in our community can be fully integrated and as self-reliant as possible. Additionally, people of all ages with any disability, including children and elderly, are never turned away. People with blindness or visual impairments, acquired disabilities (like Amy), people born with disabilities, people with chronic illness, and those from all walks of life are never turned way.
