Refuge Community Development Inc

Purpose

Refuge Community Development Inc.'s mission is to help revitalize blighted communities within Jefferson County, Kentucky by purchasing and renovating real property.  Refuge Community Development will also meet the needs of those who need housing assistance and will aspire to increase the economic stability of families by providing educational assistance and daycare; thus allowing the recipients to utilize acquired skills in a useful and productive manner. Refuge Community Development will also assist the poor by providing emergency food distribution, and attempt to develop leaders within the community. Refuge Community Development will provide a meeting place for community residence.

Our Vision

At Refuge Community Development Inc., we envision a community where every individual from children to veterans, had the opportunity to thrive. Through your generous donations, we aim to: 

1. Empower individuals with the skills and training necessary to secure stable employment and build a brighter future

2. Provide veterans in need with safe and affordable housing, ensuring they have the support and dignity they deserve.

3. Enrich the lives of our community's children through after-school programs, tutoring, and learning labs, helping them unlock their full potential

Our Initiatives 

1. Breaking of Bread Brunch: A community outreach event providing food baskets and clothing, along with opportunities for prayer, personal testimonies, and fellowship.
2. Kids Cafe/ Tutorial Program: A safe space offering meals and tutoring to support the growth and education of children in our community.
3. Helping Hands Initiatives: Various programs focused on assisting those in need, providing resources and support to improve their quality of life.
4. Boys to Men: A mentorship and training program for men of all ages, from 5 to 105, focused on building character, leadership, and life skills.
5. Food Pantry: Providing meals and food with all of our programming, and we offer open pantry days where people from the community can receive fresh produce and non-perishable items.
