Rescue Mission of Salt Lake

The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake has a heart for homeless men, women and children in Utah. Every day, we meet people driven to the streets by mental illness, abuse, incarceration, addiction and generational poverty. While these causes tend to overlap, our focus is on helping people out of homelessness through faith-based addiction recovery.

Just one example is Suzie, an alcoholic mother of two who abandoned her children and burned bridges with the rest of her family so that she could continue drinking. After yet another stint at the hospital for alcohol poisoning, she found herself out of money, alone and homeless. But that night, instead of sleeping in the park, she chose to get help at the Rescue Mission. A year later, Suzie is sober, employed, reunited with her children, involved in her church and truly happy for the first time in decades.

Suzie was able to get not only nourishing food and a safe place to call home, but vital counseling and recovery services to bring her back into the community. Without the support of individual Utahns and local businesses, we simply could not provide these life-transforming services, especially considering that we don't take any government funding. So thank you for loving Utah and caring for the most vulnerable in our community!
