"A Way Out"
This program seeks to help families and individuals to work their way out of a life of poverty. Road maps are customized for each constituent based on current life situation and the optimum path for success. Programs are focused on strategies that will change the root causes of lack to change the circumstance. Our organization contributes resources coupled with mentorship, action plans, and accountability. Revival Ministry remain a strong partner with families and individuals during the execution of their success plan. Workshops and one-on-one Coaching focuses on Journey to Employment Success, Workable Budgeting, Personal Conduct, Personal Responsibilities, How to Look Up and Look Forward.
"Life Skills"
Our Life Skills Program for Children focusses on partnering with the parents of children in impoverished communities. The goal is for children to have access, gain exposure, learn, and practice important skills that will propel them toward a brighter and more productive future. Children hold the stewardship for tomorrow. Each child has the potential to change our world for better. We must not let them drown in the grip poverty. Parent Child Literacies, Facilitating affordable After School and Child Care service, Situational Etiquette, Personal Conduct, Understanding Choices and Consequences, and Accountability are some of the areas of personal development in full partnership with parents.
"Outreach and Community Enrichment"
Community outreach involves interacting with and getting to know each constituent. It also involves the distribution of supplies and information that will address their physical, mental, and spiritual health including needs around public health, literacy, food insecurity, safety, and employment. These outreach activities help our efforts to disrupt poverty and stand up more sustainable programs. Each year we distribute holiday gift baskets in which we strategically place items that will preserve dignity, provide hygiene health, and extend the financial reach of our clients. This compliments our mission of helping families to build stability. We distributed baskets to 130 households in 2019, 120 households in 2021, and 100 households in 2022. We do clothing distribution twice a year and Family Fun Day for the entire community.
Last year we supported a mother with five children who could not afford childcare. Her family history is one of generational poverty. She had to choose between child neglect (leaving the children alone while she worked) and leaving her job. Because of the unity we demonstrate and encourage in the neighborhoods where we serve, some neighbors pitched in to help with babysitting. The help was inconsistent, and she eventually was laid off for missing work too many times. She then faced eviction when she could not pay the rent. She sent the children away temporarily to a distant relative. She slept in her car for weeks while we tried to get her in a shelter. We provided her with a place to shower, gas for her vehicle, food, and some short-term hotel stays. We reached out to a local hotel who drastically reduced the room prices to assist us, and we were able to pay the cost from our micro grant program). Today she is working two jobs. We helped her implement a budget. She is saving money with the goal of becoming more stable and bringing her children home. She expressed how grateful she was that we were supporting her every step of the way not just with resources but with encouragement. She further expressed that if we were not there, she would probably not have the strength to get back up.
UPDATE: March 2023. This mother is now in an apartment home. She has brought her children back and reunited as a family. We have supported them with clothing, air mattress, microwave, personal products, and food. She is being hired on at one company from temporary employment to permanent employee with benefits. We continue to build a community of supporters around them as a safety net. Revival Ministry will continue with this family as they keep progressing forward and upward out of impoverishment. To God be the glory!
