Our mission is to preserve the past and provide learning opportunities about the culture and heritage in Washington County Maryland that existed in the 19 century and up until 1940. 

The three indoor museums each depict a distinct part of our culture from early home living to heritage orchard, dairy, grain plowing, cultivating and processing equipment, to the roots of Hagerstown's economic growth that development from manufacturing cars, taxi's and bicycles. 

Our outdoor museum, is composed of our Rural Village and Homestead and contain original structures pre and post civil war. Mt. Tabor log church from Hagerstown, Glass family log cabin from Sharpsburg, Dr. Fahrney's office from Boonsboro, Spickler Country Store from Fairview, along with reconstructed structure such as the blacksmith, cabinet maker, cobbler and broom makes shop. The Poffenberger cabin has the orginal hearth and used to provide living history demonstrations in hearth cooking.
