Rian empowers immigrants, refugees, and international exchange visitors on the path to opportunity, safety, and a better future for all. We do this by providing immigration legal services, resource and support services, education and career advancement services, and advocacy for just and humane immigration policies. We build community through our inclusion and civic engagement initiatives, and lead an international exchange program for recent graduates. We are working toward a society where all are welcomed, valued, and have access to equitable opportunities and protections.
Each year, we provide services to over 3,800 immigrants and refugees from more than 126 countries, offering the support they need to build successful lives. Building on our roots of hospitality and social justice, we seek to be proactive, responsive, and innovative in meeting the needs of the immigrant community in New England. America is a nation of immigrants, and despite the current political climate, we are proud to continue the tradition of welcoming immigrants to this country and working together to create a better future for all.
Our programs consist of:
Immigration Legal Services
Our attorneys provide legal advice and full case representation to over 2,000 low-income and underserved immigrants annually, assisting them as they gain citizenship, legal status, and/or work authorization. Additionally, we help immigrants reunite with their families so they can establish productive, stable lives, and move out of poverty.
Resource and Support Services
Our social workers provide therapeutic counseling for mental health needs such as trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression, along with case management for 300 individuals each year. We also offer workshops designed to reduce stress and promote wellness, in addition to free health clinics.
Education and Career Advancement Services
Our instructors empower immigrants working to build financially stable, productive lives so they may break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their children. Our adult education services benefit 100 students each year and include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), technology and computer literacy classes, and career advancement support and opportunities.
“I want to thank, with a sincere heart, all the people who work for us at the Rian Immigrant Center. Thank you for setting an example of love for our brothers and sisters. ” — Michel, El Salvador, ESOL student and legal client, Fall 2020
