“It (the class) made me feel like myself. I never feel like me in other art classes, I have to follow the directions. In this class I got to be meâ€Ĥ My favorite thing was the envelopes because they make me feel safe that I can put secrets about how to be creative and be myself.” – Gabby, age 9

When you support the Richmond Art Center, you make a direct impact on the well-being of our community.

We help thousands of people every year, young and old alike, understand, appreciate and participate in the visual arts. At the Art Center, our students create, our artists become inspired, and our community finds a safe and welcoming place to explore art.

The Richmond Art Center Enriches Our Community

“Not like anyplace else. Gallery shows and lectures of the highest quality. And a great community resource with classes and programs that benefit all ages.” - Linda, community member

Our mission is to enhance the lives of our diverse community through the visual arts by providing exceptional learning opportunities in traditional and contemporary visual arts. In doing so we enhance the quality of life and well being of the people who live in our city.

The Richmond Art Center Supports Our Community's Children

“It’s changing the way I teach everything. Science, math, social studiesâ€Ĥ It’s letting the students take abstract concepts like a grid or area and make it real and hands on. My students are making a topographical map of California using mosaic. They are using beans to make mountain ranges and couscous to make a desert. I had no idea how to incorporate art into something other than a stand-alone lesson. Now I have the confidence and experience to incorporate it into my everyday lessons” - Dianne, 4th grade teacher at Washington Elementary School about our Bring Art to Your Classroom professional development workshop series

Creative opportunities for today's children are underfunded. You make it possible to take art classes to low-income schools and provide scholarships so kids and teens can participate in classes at the Art Center, at our local schools and in our community centers. We work to ensure that all children have the chance to become tomorrow's creative thinkers, makers, doers and artists.

Please consider making a donation to the Richmond Art Center. You are critical to ensuring that inspiring and transformative art experiences are available to our community.
