Riders Alliance

Riders Alliance formed in 2012 with a singular, ambitious goal: to fight for a world-class public transit system that meets the everyday needs of all New Yorkers. We’ve made a lot of progress since then.

In the last 13 years, the introduction of the Fair Fares program has decreased the fare for low-income New Yorkers by 35%. The number of accessible subway stations has almost doubled, and bus line mileage in the city has nearly tripled. We’ve proven again and again that when New Yorkers organize, strategize, and stand together, we can change the rules of what’s possible.
