Rim Country Literacy Program (RCLP) began in 1994 because Lois Johnson had a passion for adult literacy.  Now, 20 years later, RCLP continues to change the lives of adults in the Payson area because of the generous donations from individuals like you.

Because of YOUR support, we are able to deliver our services through four key programs:  GED Preparation, English Language Instruction, Family Literacy (Learning With My Parents), and Computer Literacy.  There is never a charge for our services.

GED Preparation assists adults in preparing for the GED exam.  Most adults need a minimum of 30 hours of preparation, but some need as many as 100 hours of assistance.  In 2013 RCLP assisted 20 adults in passing the GED.

English Language Instruction is offered to non-English speakers.  Both oral and written language development is offered.  In 2013 adults from 5 different countries logged over 3,000 hours of instruction.

Family Literacy Program is offered to children of non-English speaking parents who are in grades PK-5.  The children receive enrichment instruction in oral and written language development and math.  Additionally, the children participate in art, science and craft activities.

Computer Instruction  is offered to  adults who have limited computer skills, but want to learn to use Microsoft Office programs.

In 2013 RCLP has served over 120 adults and 27 children resulting in over 5,200 instructional hours at a value of nearly $100,000.  RCLP has a core of dedicated volunteers with a heart for literacy.   They provide all the instruction to adults and children, as well as office and fundraising support.

RCLP is funded by donations and receives only 15% of its revenue from Gila County Adult Education Services.   We hope you will join us in our commitment to changing lives through literacy!
