Mission

The River Fund is a not-for-profit direct care service organization dedicated to providing physical, emotional and spiritual support to: *the hungry, the homeless *children and adults living with HIV/AIDS *anyone facing life threatening illnesses and people living with severe physical and mental challenges Towards this end, we support and affirm all people with equal regard to age, gender, creed, ethnic origin and sexual orientation.

Programs

FEED EVERYONE PROGRAMS Feed Everyone programs are designed to support good nutrition and improve quality of life by reducing the effects of hunger and support people physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually who are severely challenged by their circumstances. ON SITE PANTRY SERVICES: Provides weekly emergency on-site pantry bags along with nutritional sandwiches, snacks, clothing, personal care items, referrals for food stamp qualification, emergency housing, and substance/physical abuse services. The River Fund Food Pantry: Richmond Hill, Queens ? weekly distribution to 75-120 children, women, men and seniors MOVABLE FOOD PANTRY SERVICES: Provides weekly and bi-monthly pantry bags, sandwiches, snacks, clothing, personal care items, referrals for food stamp qualification, emergency housing, and substance/physical abuse into food insufficient communities. Street Relief Program: Rufus King Park, Jamaica ? weekly distribution for 75-120 children, women, men and seniors St. Benedict the Moor: Collaboration, Jamaica ~ the hungry, homeless and working poor. ? twice a week distribution for 80-125 children, adults and seniors Outreach Project: Collaboration, Richmond Hill ~ facility for adolescent outpatient, alcohol & substance abuse treatment, HIV/AIDS services, and day treatment for battered/abused women and their families. ? weekly distribution for 55 children and adults NYC AIDS Housing Network: Collaboration, Brooklyn ~ provides housing for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. ? weekly distribution for 60 children, women and men Grupo Jovenes: Collaboration, Corona ~ alcohol/substance abuse program and housing for Latino men. ? weekly distribution for 40 men Faith Mission: Collaboration, Jamaica ~ soup kitchen ? distribution of food product and supplies Under the Boardwalk Outreach Programs: Outreach Program next to Nathan?s,Coney Island, Brooklyn ~ the hungry, homeless, working poor, children/adults, seniors, those living with HIV/AIDS and those dealing with alcohol/substance abuse. ? bi-monthly distribution for 75-120 children, women, men and seniors Coney Island Gospel Assembly: Collaboration, Brooklyn ~ men?s shelter & community outreach program for at risk youth and their families. ? bi-monthly distribution for 25 homeless men and community outreach to those in need Oceanview Home for Adults: Outreach Program, Brooklyn ~ health care facility for 175 challenged adults ? bi-monthly distribution for 120/170 adults and seniors Children?s Vitamin Outreach Program: Outreach Program ~ Brooklyn and Queens ? provides monthly multiple vitamins to over 350 children. After School Healthy Snacks Program: Collaboration, Southeast Queens Neighborhood Network (SEQNN), Jamaica ? weekly nutritional snacks, school supplies and clothing to150 children. The Rounds Program: Outreach Program, Terrence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Facility ~ Manhattan Visitations and special events for children, adults and seniors living in long-term health care facility afflicted with HIV/AIDS, Huntington?s, Alzheimer?s, Parkinson?s and other severe illnesses. ? providing healthy snacks, clothing, personal care items and gifts throughout the year to 750 residents. NON-FOOD SERVICES: These programs enhance our emergency food programs. Back to School Program: Outreach Program ~ Brooklyn and Queens ? providing over 350 book bags and school supplies Holiday Gift Giving Outreach: Outreach Program ~ Brooklyn and Queens ? distributes over 7,500 toys, stuffed animals, hats, gloves, scarves clothing, and personal care items to children and adults for all programs and outreach during the Holiday Season and throughout the year.
