River House Inc

River House, Inc. serves victims of violence in a four county area encompassing 2,500 square miles and over 70,000 people. Our agency has suffered from grant funding cuts and we have limited fundraising capabilities because our communities have an overall poverty rating of 20-35%.  We have learned over the years how to be as thrifty as possible, including using recycled paper from the local elementary schools in our copier and printers.

This is where a Thrift Store will help.  We receive donated goods every day and provide these items to residents in our shelter.  However, we lack the capacity to continue to store all of the items we receive.  We also need to generate a sustainable funding stream to continue providing services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  Opening a thrift store is the solution to both needs.  You can help us by donating funds needed for supplies and labor to renovate a building space that has been donated to us.  The building owner has agreed to provide a new exterior and roof and our job is to raise the money to remodel the interior.  With your help, our dream of opening a thrift store is possible and will help us to continue to help others for many years to come.
