Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia

The Renaissance Music Academy of Virginia (RMA) is the oldest and largest non-profit community music school in southwest Virginia. Founded in 1993, the RMA serves as a center in the region where students of all ages and levels of ability can explore the world of music and reach their highest potential in learning to play an instrument. Lessons are offered in piano, violin, viola, cello, and guitar.

New in 2026, the RMA is expanding its footprint at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, giving us more space for individual and group lessons. You can support this project with a gift to the Building Expansion Fund at checkout, or you may designate your gift to our General Fund, or the Joe W. Meredith Scholarship Fund, honoring our RMA board member and former President of the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. A generous donor will match each donation made to the RMA between June 1st and noon on June 25th up to $2,000. 

The RMA is open to everyone! Scholarships are offered to families who cannot afford music lessons.  Outreach events are offered throughout the community year-round in retirement centers, childcare centers, public and private schools, hospitals, libraries, adult day centers and for civic organizations. Activities include free concerts by faculty and students, lecture/demonstrations, and petting zoos for children to try out string instruments.  Please support this amazing music school where we believe Music Changes Everything!
